Featuring:
  • Rotation Without Impact
  • Impact Without Rotation
  • Impact and Rotation
Independent Rotation
The piston hammer and the rotation motor are operated as independent units. This allows a better control of the drill in extremely hard or soft rock by varying both the rotation and the percussion...light impact and fast rotation for soft ground...heavier percussion and slower rotation for hard rock drilling.

Torsion Bar
An efficient hollow torsion bar is freely splined to the gear motor and to the chuck driver. This torsion bar transmits the rotation from the motor to the drill steel and also absorbs any rotational shock between the shank and the rotation motor. This hollow bar conducts air pressure to the inside of the chuck end gear chamber; this pressure, in turn, keeps dirt out.

No Internal Rotation Parts

The following troublesome parts have been eliminated from the design of the PR123J: rifle bar and nut; chuck driver nut; rachet ring; pawls; pawl springs.

Threaded Port
For exhaust noise control equipment.

Special Bearings
The chuck driver, gears and gear motor are all equipped with special bearings for efficient rotation and adequate load-carrying characteristics. Included are ball bearings, solid bronze bearings, and a thrust bearing. Each bearing has been selected to give long service life in its special application.

Controls
The PR123J Drifter Drills is remotely controlled by a bank of sliding spool valves; one valve for percussion, a graduated three-phase (forward-off-reverse) valve for rotation, a blowing valve, and a Pressure Regulated Feed Control valve. Finger tip selection of any combination for all applications.

Lubrication
A Gardner-Denver line oiler in the airline provides excellent lubrication to the rotation motor, the hammer, and the chuck parts.

Rotation Motor
An extremely strong, efficient, long-wearing, reversible gear motor supplies the rotation power for the PR123J Drill.
