Direct Impact = Constant Blow Energy = Straight Hole Drilling

    The energy imparted to the drill bit is constant as the hammer follows the bit down the hole.  Dry drilling rates are hardly affected by the depth of the hole drilled.  Top hammer - drifter systems - drive the drill bit further away from the energy source as each rod is added and the hole tends to wander.

Full Air Flow = Cleaner Holes

    More air can be passed through the D.T.H. hammer than a drifter system to ensure cleaner holes.

Mining & Quarrying

    Benefits from D.T.H. drilling with more accurately sited holes for safer blasting and improved control over fragmentation.  A cleaner hole is more easily charged with explosives.  Underground drilling and with subsequent hole opening produces accurate, wide diameter holes.

Exploration

    D.T.H. provides good orientation to determine the location of bore holes in relation to the minerals being sampled.  Accuracy with a high recovery rate is essential.

    External diameters of D.T.H. hammers are generally close to the diameter of the bore hole drilled.  Not only is the wall of the drill hole supported, but when used in conjunction with the appropriate drill tube diameter achieve a high degree of hole accuracy.  Deviation as low as 1% of hole length is often achieved.

Waterwell & Construction Casing Installation

    Needs the accurate drilling and clean hole production of D.T.H.  The constant energy output from the hammer copes with the changing ground conditions through which the bit is driven.  Halco offers a wide range of drill bit sizes to suit each hammer size as well as SIM-CAS continuous drilling and casing systems to install casings in difficult ground conditions.
