Improved Production Efficiency with Reduced Energy ConsumptionVCR-361
The new VCR-361 drill represents the newest and most advanced drill in popular VCR series of high performance Sullivan drill engines.  Based on the same design concepts that have made the VCR-261 drills the leasers in their class for penetration, strength and reliable service, the VCR-361 drill incorporates innovations that make it one of the most energy efficient drills available.  That is, it gives you the same high performance of the VCR-261 drills while using less air and fuel...something that's certainly right for these energy costly times.

More Performance On Less Air
With the new VCR-361 drill you need only 850 cfm of air to drill at the same penetration rate as the VCR-261 drill (which requires 1000 cfm).  The savings are obvious the initial cost economy of a smaller air compressor is considerable, plus the fuel consumption of the smaller compressor is significantly less.  Or, if a dry dust collector is desired (or required), the VCR-361 drill will operate at peak efficiency with dust collection off the same compressor that powered the VCR-261 drill alone.

Lubrication System Extends Drill Life
The new VCR-361 incorporates a sealed lubrication system which extends drill engine life.  The entire rotation drive assembly is lubricated by its own system, sealed from the percussion assembly and the outside environment.  Blow air is provided separately to the drill string.

Exclusive Sullivan Valveless, Continuous Rotation Design
Like previous Sullivan drill engines, the new VCR-361 has only one moving part in the hammer - the piston.  This valveless design has proven itself with penetration rates that are consistently faster than conventional designs.  Rotation is independently powered by an efficient gear-type air motor.  Rate of rotation is infinitely variable to suit drilling conditions.

Quieter Muffler
A resiliently mounted heavy-walled alumninum muffler substantially reduces noise.  Spent air (and noise) is directed up and away from the operator further increasing operator comfort.

VCR-361 Drill Operation
The two basic operation functions of the VCR-361 drill - percussion and rotation - are accomplished independent of each other.
PercussionRotation
Air entering the drill passes directly to both ends of the piston.  The piston reciprocates in the cylinder in a valveless cycle in which the piston itself operates as a valve, alternately exposing and covering ports on the ends of the cylinder.  This is a volume expansion controlled cycle using only one moving part - the piston.

A separate air inlet admits air to a gear-type air motor.  The air motor transmits torque through the rotation gearing to the chuck driver which is splined to receive the striking bar.  Rotation (rpm) of the drill steel is continuously variable by use of the rotation valve on the drill feed.
