Programmable Sequential Blasting Machines
General Information
The REO ST and PT series Sequential Blasting
Machines are modern easy-to-use programmable timing machines meeting
the special requirements of bench blasting operations while precise
millisecond/microsecond accuracy is critical.
Programmable timing permits the blaster to take full
advantage of the greater accuracies offered bt the new electronic
detonators to achieve better fragmentation and to control ground
vibration. The REO Sequential Blasting Machines allow the blaster
to continue full production blasting which otherwise would be
drastically curtailed if a single circuit machine were employed.
The REO Sequential Blasting Machines are of
solid-state capacitor-discharge design with 10 circuits that fire one
after the other sequentially at preselected time intervals from 1 to
999 milliseconds in
1
millisecond increments. For special requirements, timing
selection increments of 100 microseconds to 10 milliseconds are offered.
The
BM175 and
BM225 series Blasting Machines are
450 volt output
models and are recommended for most applications. These models
have a cable receptacle on the top panel and require an EC15 series
Extension Cable and TB15 Terminal Board to connect to the detonator
lead lines.
The timing interval between circuits on the
BM175-10ST Blasting Machine is selected and set on a single switch, and the selected timing is
Identical between each circuit.
The timing intervals between circuits on the
-10PT
series Blasting Machines are selected and set independently on each of
nine switches (ten switches on slave models), and the selected timing
may be
Different between each circuit.
The -10PT series Blasting Machine is available in
Master and
Slave models for applications that require more than 10 circuits. Up to fifteen ten-circuit Slave units can be added as needed.
The BM175 and BM225 series Blasting Machines are available in two
Remote models. The
-10PT-RC series operates from the battery powered RC70 Remote Control. The -10PT-RM series operates from mains power.
Several models that bypass open circuits
(BOC) are offered for BOCAR (Bypass Open Circuit Automatic Redundancy) blasting methods. All models are available with a
Key feature.
The -10PT series Blasting Machine is available with a
Trigger Output that provides and optically isolated output when circuit 1 fires.

Operation
Use of this equipment requires training in sequential blasting techniques.
Contact your powder company representative for training
information. This equipment must be operated in accordance with
US Federal health and safety standards, state laws, rules, and other
applicable statutory provisions.
Suitability: Properly trained and skilled personnel must determine suitability and safety factors of each blast.
Important: Devices such as the REO Blasting Machine Energy
Testers must be used to determine the energy output of each circuit
prior to each blast. The extension cable shall not be connected
to the blasting machine until the circuit wiring has been verified by
approved testers, the blast is ready to be fired, and area safety is
assured.
After the blasting circuits have been connected to the blasting machine, depress the
Charge switch and hold it down. When the
Ready to Fire indicator lights, depress the
Fire switch while continuing to depress the
Charge switch. Unless the
Charge and
Fire switches are operated together, the machine will not fire. The
Cap Circuit
indicators, when lit, indicate the probability that circuit
fired. The machine will stop firing at an open circuit, except
-BOC series Blasting Machines which continue sequencing even if a circuit is open.
Caution:
With this machine, as with all blasting equipment, standard safety
rules should be followed which include: keep blast area clear of
unauthorized personnel, keep body and hands away from conductors and
use only approved test equipment.
Master-Slave Configuration
The -10PT series Blasting Machines are available as
a master or slave. Up to fifteen slaves may be connected to the
master to provide up to 160 detonator circuits (10 on the master and 10
on each slave) as required. The slave(s) receive the charge and
fire signals from the master. The programmable timing between
circuits is selected on the master and slave(s) as needed.
Remote Configuration
Four remote models are available. The
BM175-10PT-RC and BM225-10PT-RC operate up to 2000 feet from the RC70
battery operated remote control using 20 gauge or heavier duplex
wire. The BM175-10PT-RM and BM225-10PT-RM operate from 200/250
volts, 50/60 Hz mains power.
Battery Life
A lighted
Ready to Fire
indicator confirms that the battery power was sufficient to charge the
capacitors to the design voltage and the safety circuit is released.
The amount of time it takes for the
Ready to Fire
indicator light to illuminate reflects remaining battery life.
After months of use, a longer charge time will be required.
However, regardless of battery condition, the full design voltage is
present and the unit's safety circuit is released if the
Ready to Fire indicator is illuminated.
BM175-10 series up to 450 charges
BM225-10 series up to 250 charges
Safety Features
- Blasting machine cannot be fired until the design voltage is verified and the safety circuit is released.
- Case is sealed against moisture and dust.
- Padlock latch on a hinged cover provides a means to increase security protection.
- Capacitors are shunted until the "Charge" switch is depressed.
- Blasting circuits are shunted until the "Fire" switch is depressed.
- Cable receptacle is protected by the cover.

Blaster's Ohmmeters
General Information
The REO Blaster's Ohmmeters provide nominal values of circuit
resistance on a large easy-to-read digital display. The
user-friendly ohmmeters speed up circuit check-out and provide vital
information necessary to assure a successful blast. Long battery
life, rugged water resistant enclosures and heavy duty terminals
provide the blaster with a dependable ohmmeter that provides years of
service. The B0199.9-10 (0 - 199.9 ohms) and the B01999-1 (0 -
1999 ohms) Blaster's Ohmmeters are pocket-sized single circuit models
designed for general use. A nylon cord attatched to the case
allows the ohmmeter to hang from around the neck for convenient
use. The B0199.9-10 (0 - 199.9 ohms) and the B01999-10 (0 - 1999
ohms) Blaster's Ohmmeters are ten circuit models designed for REO
Sequential Blasting Systems and include a special set of terminals for
single circuit testing. The sequential blasting cable is
connected to a socket on the ohmmeter thus allowing rapid resistance
measurement of each circuit selected by a rotary switch.

Operation
When using the REO B01999-1 or B01999-1 Blaster's
Ohmmeter, connect the blasting circuit to the terminals. The
ohmmeter turns on automatically. The display indicates the
resistance of the blasting circuit. "1" will be displayed
is the resistance exceeds the full scale range of the ohmmeter.
The ohmmeter turns off automatically when disconnected. Replace
the battery when BAT appears on the display.
When using the REO B0199.9-10 or B01999-10 Blaster's
Ohmmeter, connect the sequential blasting cable to the Cable
connector. The ohmmeter turns on automatically. Rotate the
circuit switch to positions 1 through 10, noting the resistance
displayed for each circuit. "1" will be displayed if the
resistance exceeds the full scale range of the ohmmeter. To
measure the resistance of a single circuit, connect the blasting
circuit to the Single Circuit terminals and rotate the Circuit switch
to the Single position, noting the resistance displayed. The
ohmmeter turns off automatically when disconnected. Replace the
battery when BAT appears on the display.
